Not enough fizz right after carbonating

Not enough fizz right after carbonating almost always has two causes: an overfilled bottle or carbonating too briefly. Both are solved with two simple rules.

1. Don’t overfill the bottle

Don’t fill the bottle above the fill line. Too much water prevents sufficient CO2 from getting into the water – and can also push water into the soda maker, which then leaks out of the device.

2. Two full carbonation cycles

Always carbonate twice fully until the venting sound, with a few seconds pause in between.

⚠️ Avoid pulse-pressing: Short, fast presses give a noticeably worse result, because the CO2 doesn’t have time to dissolve in the water.

Using an Infinity soda maker?

If the two tips above aren’t enough, also check the steps in the article Soda maker: water isn’t fizzing properly – what to do? – there you’ll find the complete diagnostic checklist (nozzle, CO2 cylinder, etc.).
