Soda maker: water leaks from the device after carbonating

Water inside the device almost always means the bottle was filled too high or the CO2 cylinder is not seated tight. During carbonation, water is then pushed into the housing and runs back out afterwards.

Immediate steps

  1. Check / disconnect power (if applicable) and let the device dry.
  2. Unscrew the CO2 cylinder.
  3. Carefully turn the device upside down and dry the area around the inside thread thoroughly with a cloth.
  4. Screw the cylinder back in tight – hand-tight, no tools.

How to prevent it

  • Fill the bottle only up to the fill line – when in doubt, slightly less.
  • Tighten the CO2 cylinder firmly (hand-tight).
  • Check that the carbonation nozzle is firmly seated.

These symptoms often appear together with weak fizz and a loud whistling sound. You’ll find a complete step-by-step guide in the article Soda maker: water isn’t fizzing properly – what to do?
